Hi folks.
I'm running 3.19.2 on Windows 7-64. Generating normal maps from OBJ meshes exported from ZBrush and/or Blender.
My Lo-res is about 60K polys, Hi-res about 15-million. Hi-res is a straight subdiv of the low res mesh.
I'm having trouble with strange striping artefacts. E.G. see first image (Second image overlays UVs).
(Both images are small portions of the full map)
Does anyone out there know whats wrong here? I've tried various settings, using 'Match UVs' and not,
smoothing normals etc. Nothing I've tried affects this problem.
BTW: I started out using xNormal because I was having trouble getting ZBrush to generate a clean map.
I wanted to use a cage for better control. But since I kept hitting this problem I went back and
(finally) worked out how to get the ZBrush internal normal map generator to generate a clean map
from the same meshes. The ZBrush result is the last image. It's better than xNormal in this area,
but has issues with convex portions in other places - that's why I wanted the cage).
